Pre-Conference Workshops - Choice of One of the Following:
  • Mobility: Deploying Advanced Mobile Applications for Wireline and Wireless

The mobile space is a fast moving market and this session will take a detailed look at the trends, opportunities and challenges that face wireline operators. Attend this session and you will get an up close view of our current mobility solutions and products, insights into advanced technology for mass deployment and a thorough understanding of first to market or standards-based alternatives for delivering rich communications services. This pre-conference workshop will compare applications for wireline, wireless and over the top (OTT) providers, giving you a firm grasp on products that you can embrace, or even defend against.

    Speaker:
Anusha "Ash" Nirmalananthan, Metaswitch, Senior Product Manager, User Experience, Metaswitch

  • Hosted Business Services: How and Why To Do It Now

The Connected Age challenges businesses as well as service providers. They too are trying to position themselves in this digital economy to maximize opportunities with their customers. To leverage those opportunities, they need help. They need to better understand how technology and an app-enabled communications network can contribute to a growing bottom line and they’re willingness to pay for it. Many service providers recognize this, and are keen to serve these opportunities. But speed is most definitely of the essence:

According to recent market research sponsored by Metaswitch

    • 64% of the market is considering IP voice services like SIP Trunking or Hosted PBX connectivity in the next two years.
    • Of the 27% who have already adopted these services, nearly three-fourths have opted for a new service provider.
    • This implies that over 40% of an incumbent service provider’s base is at risk if steps aren’t taken to address this market demand for IP voice services.

What is at risk is not only today’s revenue, but tomorrow’s growth. Adopters of IP voice, particularly hosted VoIP, are twice as likely to adopt other services from the IP service provider, particularly those now categorized as Cloud Services.

Attend this pre-conference workshop to understand how the IP pipe, with voice and PBX functionality as the first and most logical application, can serve as a ladder for your customers to your cloud. Learn from Metaswitch experts and service providers who have successfully deployed revenue-generating hosted services.

    Speakers:
    John Macario, TelcoFuture, Managing Director
Jesse Lee, Metaswitch, Sr. Solution Manager
    Steve Welham, Metaswitch, Support Manager

  • Keynote Speaker: Richard Noble, OBE

In 1983, Richard set the world land speed record in his car Thrust2, at the staggering speed of 633 mph. Not surprisingly for a man in [very rapid!] motion, Richard then led the project to break his own record, and successfully managed the ThrustSSC project: the world’s first supersonic car that set the current record of Mach 1.02 (763 mph) in 1997. 14 years later and Richard continues to push all known boundaries for ground transportation with BloodhoundSSC - a car that aims to pass the 1000 mph mark in 2013!

But Richard’s story is far more than one of big science and even bigger speeds. It’s a story of success, where innovation and teamwork eclipse larger budgets and bigger companies. The ThrustSSC team carried out the entire program on a budget of only $4.5m - 14% of that assigned to a competing venture from Formula 1 favorite, McLaren.

The similarities with today’s telecommunications market are striking: Against a background of traditionally low risk cultures, Richard Noble specializes in developing high risk ventures. These projects invariably start small, are highly innovative or unconventional and therefore risk funding is never easy. Financial horizons are always in sight, companies must depend on their wits to survive and there are no guarantees. But while working in this high risk environment is always uncomfortable, extraordinary goals can be achieved, records are set and the taste of victory is all the more sweet.

Please join us for Richard’s personal guide to white-knuckle driving, winning against all odds and continually pushing the boundaries of innovation.
